IMPORTANT – 23RD MARCH EVENT CANCELLED DUE TO SNOW. SEE OUR HOMEPAGE
Friendly staff, real ale, great food, lovely scenery and over 2 miles of continuous thrash on the 1 in 80 Berwyn Bank including through a long, single bore tunnel. And sights like these…………

What more does the discerning Crank need? Photo by Ivor Bufton showing visiting Class 31 5580 (no longer at the railway) and resident Class 37 6940 at the 2011 Autumn diesel day.
Our 23rd March 2013 event was unfortunately cancelled due to heavy snow.. The event should have seen Class 26 D5310 and Class 37 6940. Class 47 D1566 is unfortunately out of traffic pending overhaul.
The day was planned operate to a B Timetable with 7 trips in total – 4 for D5310 and 3 for 6940.
We had hoped to hold a more ambitious event and include some shunter haulage and a DMU diagram, but the problem is the recent embankment landslip just West of Glyndyfrdwy station. We are delighted to announce services to Carrog have now resumed, but not with sufficient notice to organise a more complex event.
Watch this space for details of a possible rescheduled Spring event and more information about our event in September.
Day rover fares will be: Adult £14, Senior £12, Child £7, Family Ticket (2 Adults + 2 Children) £36. Standard return tickets also available Adult £12, Senior £10, Child £6, Family Ticket (2 Adults + 2 Children) £30.
Tickets may be purchased online direct from the LR Website - click the “Buy Tickets Here” icon on the left of the homepage.
We hope to be able to offer NEW TRACK later in the year with some loco-hauled trains to Bonwm, the current limit of the Corwen extension in 2013.
Here are some more photos from our 2011 Autumn Diesel Day, held on 24th September. We started the day with the Bryn Jones obligatory seminar (which Colin appears to want 2 copies of). Note visiting Class 31 5580 in the background.
D1566 worked well all day, although a niggle with the compressor governor meant Iain didn’t spend too long sat in the secondmans seat like he is here as the loco passes Goods Junction:
Rare haulage was again available from Davy. The EE 350hp shunter will work a full line charter with 08195 on 1st April 2012.
And finally there was a very noisy Beerex to finish the day off. Note the genuine BR halogen headlight courtesy of Colin “ebay Bloodhound” Cooper:
And check out Tom Shilliam’s video of 6940 at work here:
Finally Ian “Mr Wnxx” Furness’s super range of images are also worth a look:

Finally, here are some more photos from the 2010 Autumn and 2011 spring diesel events. They show what diesel operation at Llan is all about; check out the below scene that could easily be from the 70′s, but was actually March 26th 2011 - 5580 on four Mark 1s waiting for time with the last working of the day.
