We are very pleased to announce that D5310 is off on a summer holiday to the Spa Valley Railway to take part in their summer diesel gala on 4th to 7th of August. The Type 2 will head for Kent straight after our 1960’s weekend at the end of July and is then likely to stay at the Spa Valley until the Autumn. Thanks to the team at the Spa Valley for the invite, we’re looking forward to it!
We also hope to make a further exciting announcement about D5310’s travels in 2016 – watch this space!
More Good Progress on 1566
Headcode blinds have now been secured for 1566 and have been trial fitted to number 2 end, which is seen displaying the 1Z99 rescue/breakdown train headcode in fine style on Tuesday 26th of January. Photo and handywork by our chairman Mark Smales. The blinds were sourced from Beaver Sports, the business run by the owner of Deltic 55022 “Royal Scots Grey”. You really can buy anything on the Internet! Many thanks to Martin Walker and his team for making these available for other loco owners to benefit from.
Repairs are also continuing on the roof of the loco and an intensive working weekend is planned in March to reassemble the power unit.
